Walk details for 12 APRIL 2026

Short Walk

SHORT WALK 4.5 miles 760 feet of ascent.

The route goes from the Fox House Inn to the Longshaw Estate Lodge and Cafe/Toilets. From here the route goes to the Toads Mouth a rock formation at the side of the A6187.
From here the route goes to Grindleford railway station and cafe following a stream through woodland with waterfalls.
The route then goes back to the Lodge then the Inn via a mixture of open moor and woodland.

Medium Walk

MEDIUM WALK 10.5 miles 1135 feet of ascent 

The route goes from the Fox House Inn alongside the A6187 to pass the Outdoor Centre on a good bridleway to skirt Lady Cannings plantation. Crossing the road to pass through Brown Edge Farm the route goes West to cross the moor
then North to reach the West end of Redmires reservoirs.
Continuing West the route passes Stanedge Pole to Stanage Edge with its fantastic views. The route heads South East along the edge to Upper Burbage Bridge then on via the lower path which is a continuation of the Sheffield Country
Way back to the Inn.

Long Walk

LONG WALK 14 miles 1720 feet of ascent 

​The route is virtually the same as the Medium walk but it goes North from Brown Edge Farm to the East end of Redmires reservoirs and on to skirt the Rivelin reservoirs.
Returning over the moor to Redmires road the route goes West to Stanedge Pole to follow the Medium walk route back to the Inn.
