The July walks all start from Horton in Ribblesdale.
Toilets available in Horton in Ribblesdale. Also Crown Hotel purveys hand-pulled ale.
Bus is unlikely to return to Pontefract until approx. 6:30pm
Short Walks
Extra Short Walk - 5 miles, 1 furlong, 1 chain, 7 yards
From Horton in Ribblesdale walk along the side of the river to Helwith Bridge via Ribble Way, have a break, weather permitting, we will then do a easterly loop round back to the river, cross the footbridge near Studfold, back along the west side of the river across another footbridge and back to Horton in Ribblesdale.
Virtually flat - only 33m of ascent

Short Walk - 8 miles, 4 furlongs, 3 chains, 11 yards
Leave Horton in Ribblesdale on the Ribble Way and follow the River Ribble south to Helwith Bridge. Instead of crossing the bridge head west to Wharfe. From Wharfe head back to Horton in Ribblesdale by following the path near Studrigg Scar, climbing towards Moughton, then dropping back down into the village after passing the quarry.
Short walk involves a climb over distance of about one mile out of the valley from Moughton towards the quarry

Medium Walk
Medium Walk - 9 miles, 3 furlongs, 6 chains, 15 yards
Medium walkers also follow the Ribble to Helwith Bridge but cross the bridge and follow, initially A Pennine Journey path and then the Pennine Way to the summit of Pen-y-ghent.
From the top head north then west to Pot Hole before turning south back into Horton in Ribblesdale.
Medium walk ascent is 480m to the summit of Pen-y-ghent

Long Walk
Long Walk - 11 miles, 7 furlongs, 2 chains, 7 yards
Long walkers also follow the Ribble to Helwith Bridge but cross the bridge and follow, initially A Pennine Journey path and then the Pennine Way to the summit of Pen-y-ghent.
From the top head north to Plover Hill and on to Foxup Moor to join A Pennine Journey path back into Horton in Ribblesdale.
Long walk ascent is 480m to the summit of Pen-y-ghent, and another 60m to Plover Hill
