Short Walks
EXTRA SHORT WALK - 5.4 miles 380 feet of ascent
From the Coach head down thro' the town and onto A684 towards Bedale. Opposite the church take the footpath heading S. across the railway and continue to follow footpath SE until it joins the A6108. Here you carefully cross the road go E. past the sewage works until a path leads back along the River Ure to Middleham Br.
(The section past sewage works is optional) Crossing the bridge carefully as there is no footpath and past a couple of houses before turning W. along a well made track for half a mile. Now turn N. cross a boggy field and follow the footpath along the river to Wensley Bridge. Cross the bridge and go E. past the church and join the footpath from Wensley to Leyburn. Keep to the southern route as the path that goes NE is very boggy in places.

SHORT WALK - 8.3 miles 430 feet of ascent
From the Coach head down to the A684 towards Hawes. Take the footpath on the left (reversing the Extra Short Walk) until you reach Wensley. Cross the main road, turn right then left along the private road to Bolton Hall. Just past the hall go left and cross Lords Bridge then left again along side the River Ure. Go straight over at Wensley Bridge then reverse the remainder of the Extra Short Walk back to Leyburn.
Cross Middleham Bridge with extreme care as there is no footpath and the bridge is very narrow.

Medium Walk
MEDIUM WALK - 10.8 miles 1050 feet of ascent
From the Coach head W towards Reeth before taking footpath W. along Leyburn Shawl, passing through Warren Wood and on to Preston-under-Scar. From Preston head NW along Preston Scar and Redmire Scar before turning SW and then S. into the village of Redmire..
Through Redmire and take the footpath SE. to West Wood above River Ure. then head E. past Bolton Hall to Wensley.
From here follow the Extra Short Walk back to Leyburn.

Long Walk
LONG WALK - 13.8 miles 1180 feet of ascent
The walk follows the route of the Medium Walk until you reach Wensley Bridge where you take the same path as the Short Walk, along the south side of River Ure and back across Middleham Bridge . Cross Middleham Bridge with extreme care as there is no footpath and the bridge is very narrow. Now turn East along the north side of the Ure then SE across a very wet and indistinct path to a little footbridge just before joining Middleham Lane.
Follow the lane into Harmby then a footpath leads W. After 700m either turn N. up to the main road and walk back into Leyburn past the railway station or go S. then W. to A6108. Cross the road and continue W. for 200m then N. up to the church on A684 and back into Leyburn..
