SHORT

LINEAR WALK

Linear walk from Guisborough to Great Ayton. Heads generally southwest from Guisborough on open terrain and woodland footpaths. Fairly easy going with one ascent up and over Rosemary Topping. The last section of that climb is fairly steep but not for long. On a good day, the views from the top are amazing for 360 degrees. If anyone is not confident of that climb it can be avoided with an alternative route. From Roseberry Topping it is pretty much downhill back to Great Ayton.

MEDIUM

CIRCULAR  WALK

Circular walk from Great Ayton. Mainly open terrain with a few ascents. Heads generally Southeast skirting Ayton Banks Wood to the edge of Mill Bank Wood. A short but also fairly steep climb up to Captain Cook’s memorial which offers splendid views. Then head north over Easby Moor and Little Ayton Moor on a gradual descent to a metalled road, cross and then northeast to a gradual ascent again over Great Ayton Moor. Head northwest to Hutton Moor and west to climb Roseberry Topping, a good lunch spot – Then as per short walk back to Great Ayton.

LONG

CIRCULAR  WALK

Similar climbs and terrain as Medium walk. until the point where that walk swings northeast to Hutton Moor, the long walk instead heads southeast on Percy Cross Rigg before swinging northeast to Sleddale.

From there it is roughly north over Gisborough Moor and into Highcliff Wood.

It then heads roughly southwest to Hutton Moor and is then as the medium walk over Roseberry Topping and back to Great Ayton.
