Gentle climb of 200 feet total. Mostly minor roads, canal towpath and railway line.

Leave Poynton centre going north along A523 to Woodside Lane, then east to canal.

Go north to A6, then west to Middlewood Way. Go south along railway line to Wood Lanes.  Go west along Wood Lane and Wardsend back to Poynton.

Beginning same as short walk. Across fields to Rabbit Burrow Farm then through Princes Wood towards Macclesfield Canal (GR948839). From Barlow House Farm towards Lyme Park.  Cross Canal into Wood Lanes Village passing Wardsend Farm heading towards Poynton, Kingfisher PH.

Head out of Poynton SE to the Macclesfield Canal. Climb up to the Gritstone Trail and Sponds Hill 410m. Continue North to Higher Disley then West back to Poynton.
