Mytholmroyd

Calderdale

Long Walk 15 miles  (walk leader Dave Fothergill) 

Along the Calder Valley Greenway to Brearley, crossing the river, making a loop round Midgley and Luddendenfoot. Re-crossing the river and climbing to Aaron Hill then as per the medium walk.

Medium Walk 10.5 miles  (Walk Leader Alan Slater) 

As the short walk as far as Cragg Vale then past Withens Clough Reservoir to Studley Pike returning via Dicks Lane and Cock Hill Moor.

Short Walk 6.5 miles  (Walk Leader Neil Weaver)

Going out along the top on the east side of Cragg Vale to Windle Hill, descending into the village of Cragg Vale and returning on the west side through Broadhead Clough Nature Reserve and along Erringden Moor there are 2 climbs on this route the 1st strait out of the village up the valley side the 2nd a long steady climb but with 2 short sharp kicks near the end.

Easy Short Walk 5 miles  (Leader Andrea - virtually flat) 

From Mytholmroyd Railway Station follow the Calder Valley Greenway past Luddenden crossing the river Calder and returning back along the towpath of the Rochdale canal to Mytholmroyd.

All walks are circular starting and finishing in Mytholmroyd.

Further information:

Mytholmroyd is a large village in the Upper Calder Valley in West Yorkshire, 2 miles east of Hebden Bridge. It lies east of Burnley and west of Halifax in Calderdale. The name Mytholmroyd means “clearing where rivers meet” and the village is near the Elphin Brook, which flows through Cragg Vale, and the River Calder. The Rochdale Canal also flows through the town.

In the 1950s Roman coins were found,  including 533 silver coins.
