Scammonden
The bridge and Scammonden Reservoir to the west are named after Scammonden, close to Huddersfield, in the Dean Head Valley. The village was flooded to accommodate the reservoir in the 1960's. But the church remains and its vicarage is used by the sailing club.
Scammonden Water is 51.8 metres at its deepest point and water is drawn-off through a 2.5 kilometre tunnel driven southwards to supply Huddersfield.
Scammonden Dam is part of the M62 motorway between junctions 22 and 23, the only such structure in Britain.
