Further information:

Penistone  is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Barnsley, in South Yorkshire. 17 miles north-east of Glossop, in the foothills of the Pennines. The highest point in the surrounding area is at Hartcliffe Tower at 1,194 ft (364 m) above sea level, which has views over the Woodhead bypass and the Dark Peak.

The surrounding countryside is predominantly rural with mainly gentle slopes rising to the bleak moorland to the west of the town centre. Dry stone walls, small hamlets and farms surrounded by fields and livestock are synonymous with the area.

March Walk - Penistone

Organised by Alan Slater

Sunday March 8th 2015

All three walks are circular starting near to Penistone railway station and follow basically the same route along the Penistone Boundary Walk with additions

for the longer walks.

Distances are slightly longer than normal due to the short time it will take to get to Penistone and there being no hard climbing involved.

It will be soft / wet underfoot as there has had a lot of snow and rain during the past 3 months in the area.
