WALK ROUTES 

Short Walk (easy 8 miles)

Start from the village of Rothwell, heading across fields and agricultural land, through the hamlet of Cuxwold, then onto Croxby via tracks and a quiet country road. Heading back to Rothwell through fields.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Medium Walk (easy 11 miles)

Walk Leaders - Geoff Wardle

Again starting from Rothwell with a short steady climb via a track to fields, towards the village of Nettleton. Continuing through the valley bottom following Nettleton Beck (it may be muddy and there may be cows). There is an alternative route on a long quiet road with a slight climb but with better views. Both ways return to Rothwell via fields and tracks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Long Walk (Moderate 15 miles)

Starting from Rothwell  to Normanby le Wold  passing Hills Brough Farm and Normanby Dales onwards to the village of Claxby  then to Nettleton joining the Viking Way following Nettleton Beck towards Acre House,  back to Rothwell passing Mount Pleasant and Rothwell Top Farm.

Rothwell is a small village in the district of West Lindsey in north east

Lincolnshire. The village is situated approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km)

south-east from Caistor and 9 miles (14 km) north from Market Rasen.

It is 2 miles (3.2 km) east of the Viking Way. The parish covers just over 2,870 acres (11.6 km2) and is primarily agricultural land.

 

Rothwell's medieval church is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene.

The Blacksmith's Arms, the village public house, formerly the Nickerson Arms, was owned by the EU's largest seed company Nickerson Seeds.
